Black Sparrowhawk

The Black Sparrowhawk, (Accipiter melanoleucus) is a frequent visitor to Avery Avenue, flying swiftly and suddenly through the trees in pursuit of doves. This bird is the subject of a genetic study at UCT, and if you have some photos, or find a dead bird or even pick up one of its feathers, please contact Caroline at veldfloraed@gmail.com.
